NEW WORKPLACE RECYCLING LAWS ARE COMING TO ENGLAND. ARE YOU READY?

From 31st March 2025, new recycling rules affecting how businesses in England are required to separate waste for recycling will come into force. Under the legislation, all businesses with 10 or more full-time employees will need to separate “recycling relevant waste”, including dry recyclables and food waste, from general waste on site, prior to collection.

WHAT WILL YOUR BUSINESS NEED TO RECYCLE?

Within your premises you’ll need to separate the following recyclable waste before it’s collected by your waste contractor:

DRY MIXED RECYCLABLES

This includes glass, metal, plastic, paper and cardboard. These can be presented for collection together. From March 2027 you’ll also need to recycle plastic film.

Such as leftovers or waste generated by food preparation. Use of macerators and other food waste treatment equipment will be banned under the new rules.
